RANDY KOORSEN RECEIVES THE NAFED LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

A GREAT HONOR FOR A GREAT MAN

Randy Koorsen was recently honored by the National Association of Fire Equipment Distributors (NAFED) with a Lifetime Achievement Award. He was recognized for his significant work and contributions in the fire protection industry over his impressive career. Although he officially began work at Koorsen in 1962, fire protection and life safety is all Randy has ever known. He is the third generation to carry on the family business.

PROMOTING EDUCATION

One of his many great contributions to the industry has been the creation of the Koorsen Training Center, a multimillion-dollar state-of-the-art facility that offers an immersive and thorough training experience for technicians, building inspectors, fire marshals, insurance carriers, facility managers, and more. Not only did NAFED name it a Top In-Class Training Facility, they also made it home to their very own NAFED University. With advanced hands-on training and industry-leading trainers, the Koorsen Training Center provides the very best training to everyone that walks through its doors, including Koorsen’s very own technicians.

SAVING LIVES

Randy Koorsen has also been a huge proponent of teaching fire safety over the years to both adults and children. Koorsen Fire & Security offers hands-on fire extinguisher training for workplaces to bring confidence and knowledge to employees. To teach kids about life-saving skills, Koorsen is a primary sponsor of the Kasey Program. The Kasey Program, which began in 1995, is led by retired firefighter Jeff Owens and his black Labrador Retrievers. Every year, the Kasey Program performs over 400 shows in front of nearly 400,000 children and adults. The program is credited with saving at least 16 lives due to children knowing what to do in an emergency situation.

PRESERVING HISTORY

As he has grown Koorsen Fire & Security into one of the top five largest fire and security companies in the country, Randy Koorsen has never forgotten how far Koorsen and the industry have come. This interest in the history of fire protection and firefighting led him to start collecting fire memorabilia and antiques. What started with a few fire extinguishers, has turned into an impressive collection that grew so big, he built the Koorsen Museum to hold it. In the museum, you will find hundreds of fire extinguishers, fire buckets, fire grenades, fire trucks, firefighter helmets, horse-drawn pumpers, fire alarm boxes and more, dating back to the late 18th century. Everyone is welcome to visit the museum by appointment and learn more about the history of firefighting. Call 317.285.0879 to schedule your visit today.

WELL-DESERVED RECOGNITION

As you can see, Randy Koorsen and his company, Koorsen Fire & Security, have had a profound impact on the industry. The Lifetime Achievement Award from NAFED is a well-deserved award for all his contributions towards propelling the industry forward, while still remembering where it came from.
