Randy Koorsen

It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we bid farewell to a visionary leader, dedicated entrepreneur, and the driving force behind Koorsen Fire & Security, Mr. Randall (Randy) Koorsen. Randy passed away peacefully at home with his family on Tuesday, January 9th, leaving behind a legacy that has undoubtedly left an indelible mark on the fire and security industry.

Randy Koorsen, born in 1946, was more than just the owner of a successful business; he was a passionate advocate for fire safety, committed to protecting life and property. His journey in the industry began decades ago, driven by a desire to make a difference. In 1969, Randy joined that family business full-time after graduating from Ball State University.

Under his guidance, Koorsen Fire & Security has grown to become a trusted name and leader in the fire protection and security industry. Koorsen Fire & Security expanded its reach, providing top-notch services to a diverse clientele, becoming one of the largest privately owned fire protection businesses in the U.S. His commitment to excellence, customer satisfaction, and innovation propelled the company to new heights, earning it a reputation for reliability and professionalism. Randy was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the National Association of Fire Equipment Distributors.

Randy was not only a leader in business but also a pillar of support within the communities his company served. He believed in giving back and actively participated in various philanthropic initiatives, reinforcing the importance of community engagement and corporate responsibility. One such initiative is being the primary sponsor of The Kasey Program, a nationally touring fire prevention program that teaches more than 400,000 children annually fire and life safety skills.

Beyond his professional achievements, Randy Koorsen will be remembered for his warm personality, mentorship, and dedication to his employees. He created a work environment that fostered growth, creativity, and a sense of camaraderie. His leadership style inspired those around him, leaving an enduring impact on the people fortunate enough to have worked alongside him.

In addition to his professional pursuits, Randy cherished time spent with his family and friends. His love for life was evident in the joy he found in simple pleasures, and his laughter echoed through every room he entered. He was not only a leader in business but a loving husband, father, and friend.

As we mourn the loss of Randy Koorsen, let us also celebrate the remarkable life he lived and the positive influence he had on countless lives. His legacy will continue to shine brightly through the work of Koorsen Fire & Security and the memories of those who were privileged to know him. Much like himself, his son, Keith Koorsen, grew up working in the family business, and as the successor to his father, Keith shares the same vision to continue to grow the business and maintain a great and caring work environment.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to The ALS Foundation, Randy Koorsen Fund, Donation Processing Center, PO Box 37022, Boone, IA 50037-0022, in Randy's honor. More details can be found by clicking here.
