Koorsen Acquires Cumberland Fire Safety & Access First Aid

With Nashville growing and our own office there expanding consistently, we are proud to announce the acquisition of Cumberland Fire Safety & Access First Aid, which enables us to expand our reach even further. This acquisition combines the strength from the employees of both companies to provide customers with specialized teams of highly trained individuals who bring extensive knowledge and experience to every project.

Founded in 2007 by Marvin Neely, Cumberland Fire Safety & Access First Aid not only brings an additional 18 employees to our Nashville operation but gives us the opportunity to offer security services to Cumberland’s existing fire alarm, fire suppression, and first aid customers. Additionally, it enables us to add to our range of services by including Cumberland’s first aid service, something Neely has specialized in for most of his long career in life safety.

“That’s just one more product offering that we know our customers need,” said Koorsen Executive Vice President Jeff Wyatt. “We’ll offer a cabinet exchange program so that their first aid kits are always stocked. It’s something Koorsen did in its earlier days, and we think Neely’s approach really has merit. He’ll stay on in Nashville to lead that service line.”

Neely is but one of the team who’ll continue under the Koorsen banner.

“All 18 employees are staying on with us, which is just a huge plus for us,” Wyatt said. “They’re excellent people and really the top thing I’m proud of in this acquisition. As we’ve gotten to know them, we’ve seen that the Cumberland folks are top notch. They have the background, experience, and knowledge to bring great service to customers.”

The transition is already underway, and we expect it to last four months. The acquisition brings about 2,000 customers to Koorsen, and brings us a huge leap forward in our efforts to reach $100 million in sales by 2016. Sales at the Nashville branch grew by about 30 percent last year and Koorsen as a whole is running at about 15 percent growth so far this year.

“Our Nashville branch was on a nice growth trajectory this year before the acquisition,” Wyatt said. “And the area itself is experiencing a lot of growth. All of which makes this a great investment at just the right time. I can’t tell you how excited we are about it.”
