A New Dog in Town
Koorsen Fire & Security recently acquired Northern Fire & Safety in Traverse City. Northern Fire & Safety has been providing Traverse City-area businesses fire and security services for over 65 years. Koorsen has been doing the same throughout Indiana, Ohio and beyond for over 70 years. While Koorsen is certainly a “new dog” in Traverse City, they have over seven decades of experience when it comes to the fire and security business.
Community Outreach With Dogs
To introduce themselves to the Traverse City community, Koorsen employed the help of two black Labradors. The black Labs and their human, Jeff Owens, are part of Koorsen Fire & Security’s Kasey Program. The Kasey Program is a non-profit program that teaches roughly 400,000 children a year fire and life safety and has been accredited to saving 15 lives.
As part of the Kasey Program, Jeff and the dogs visit kids of all ages in schools, nursing homes, and community events where they teach everyone important fire and life safety skills through educational songs and demonstrations.
Over the past month, you may have caught the Kasey Program on UpNorth Live Tonight and 7&4 News. You may have also seen Jeff and the dogs participating in the National Cherry Festival parade. If you didn’t catch the Kasey Program this time around, they’ve promised they will definitely be back in Koorsen Fire & Security’s new backyard of Traverse City and Northern Michigan.
